Like 20 or 30 in 3 Billion...that is bad odds

I was looking into the possible astrological matches for me (Sagittarius). I am starting to understand why I can not seem to find my soul mate. Let me give you the executive brief version:

5 of the 12 signs are actually listed as at least compatible (not great, but at least hopeful)
1 of 12 is listed as a “happy twosome”
7 of the 12 (including my 2 exes) just say “Uh, yeah good luck with that”

As I have written in the past, the pool for my particular soul mate is not very large to begin with, considering that:

I am only attracted to about 2% of the female population and most of them live in the Mediterranean
Only 9% of the female population has the personality that I am looking for

Now add to that the fact that she needs to be born at a certain time of year and I am starting to see a really small number of possibilities for a match.

I was talking with a coworker the other day and the subject of soul mates came up. I also get the question “what do you think about soul mates?” on e-Harmony quite a bit. I think that it is highly unlikely that we only have one soul mate in the world. At least I hope that’s true. Think about it, there are 6 billion people on the planet. If there was only one person who “completes you,” well, you have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding that person. The hell with this dating thing, I think I will just start buying lottery tickets. I have a better chance of winning.

Now I am no mathematician, thankfully because if I could figure out how small my soul mate pool is, I would definitely be depressed. However, common sense says that if you had to find that one person in 6 billion, we would have very few people married to their soul mates. Since I personally know about 10 people that are married to the perfect person for them, there must be more than one person in the world who makes your heart leap. Well at least I got that going for me…even if it’s only like 20 people in 3 billion for me.
