Ani DiFranco and others

I was sitting at work this afternoon listening to my Ipod and the Ani DiFranco song came on – “I am not a pretty girl” in which she states that she is not an angry girl. I started to think that if you have to tell people that you are not an angry girl, you are probably an angry girl. I really like her music, but let’s be real…she is not happy with someone…maybe all of us. I only recently discovered this very talented singer and songwriter, and I have been very impressed with everything I have heard so far. I am not really sure where to classify her music though…It seems that all music seems to blur across lines more an more these days. I classify her as alternative, but so much fits into that category nowadays. I am not really sure what is pop and what is rock etc…I think the only category that is still pretty easy to figure out is country…and I hate country music. Someone should create a musical dictionary so we know if Staind is rock or pop…how about Dave Matthews? Anyway, enough of a rant.
