OK, so I know some of you are dying to know how my first date from Match.com went…well it didn’t. Her son got sick and did not go to his dad’s house for the weekend, so we postponed the date. Since then, I have not been around much having traveled to LA for a week and now to Seattle this week. I will be spending this weekend visiting friends and family in the Bay Area, so again we are postponing meeting for a while.
Here is the weird part of it all. The first night I called her, we had already planned to meet, we were on the phone for about five minutes when we realized that we both work for the same company. Now that is not too improbable as we work for a large company. However we are also in the same building only one floor apart. Now the odds on that were much greater. How many people are on Match and the first person I make contact with actually works in my building. We haven’t seen each other at work yet, as I have not been there. I would not usually date someone who I work with, but again it is a big company and we are not even in the same organization, let alone group.
I hate to say this, but I am not really expecting too much from this whole encounter. I think of it more like a preseason date. I mean I haven’t dated in a long time, and I may need some warm up time. And maybe going out on a few first dates will get me prepared for the right woman should she come along by accident.
Speaking of dating, I have been to dinner twice with someone who I am entirely too attracted to, and you all know how rare that is. She works for a company that is in a partnership with mine and I met her because I support her product. I know that she is too young for me and that things will never move in that direction. I do think that she could become a friend though. I think you need to develop a circle of friends and the love part will take care of itself. I like to think she will be apart of my circle.
