My new cleaning service is coming today. The first apartment cleaning since I moved in. Well, I do most of the cleaning, they do the stuff I hate to do, like dusting, vacuuming and cleaning the bathrooms. I set this up earlier this week and do you know what they said. No, of course you don’t. They said I had to supply my own cleaning products. Including my own mop and vacuum cleaner. Huh? What type of maid service requires the customer to supply the cleaning products? They actually gave me a list of crap to buy. I had to go to the store yesterday and decide which dusting spray to buy, what bathroom cleaner works best and what kind of mop I should get. These are decisions I have avoided in the past by HAVING a cleaning service. I had no idea that Pledge had 7 different flavors. Do the flavors really matter, I mean you are just dusting, not preparing a meal.
On top of that, I had to go out and buy a new vacuum cleaner. When did vacuum cleaner start costing more than an Italian suit? I mean it is used about once a month or so at my house so how good does it have to be? It's not like I need the industrial strength vacuum cleaner. It can pick up dirt, right? That is pretty much all I need. I could not believe that a vacuum cleaner can cost as much as $1000. Who pays that kind of money for a vacuum cleaner?
This service is actually recommended by other tenants in the building, so I am hoping they do a good job. Besides, I can tell it is one of those small businesses run out of someone’s home and I like to support those. If I am not happy, then I will have to go back to one of those Molly Maid chains. At least they have their own cleaning supplies. The problem with that is I will be stuck with $60 dollars worth of pledge, soft scrub, pine sol and windex I will never use.
