12.4 is my magic number

Some of you have probably read my post where I described a test I took that so casually informed me that I was only attracted to 2% of the female population. I also took a test later that told me that only 9% of the female population had the personality traits that I would be attracted to. I was explaining this to my friend, T, a few weekends ago in NY and she was amazed that this could even possibly be true. Everywhere we went she would ask me who I liked in the room. I have to say I have become way too picky. I was thinking about this and decided to put some numbers around it. I am going to limit this to the U.S. population as I am not worldwide just yet. So here goes.

U.S. Population (2004) – 293,622,764
Percentage of women in U.S. (49%) - 143,875,154
Percentage of women between the age of 30 and 40 (15%) – 21,581,273
Women not already married in this age bracket (32%) – 6,906,007
Women with personality traits I like (9%) – 621,541
Percentage of women I am attracted to (2%) – 12,431
Percentage of those women who find me attractive (5%) – 622

OK, there are 622 women out there that are right for me. That means there are 12.4 women in each state for me. I shouldn’t have a problem finding one, right?

Note: For all you math geniuses out there, I am well aware that this calculation is not entirely accurate. Statistically, 2% of 9% of the female population would be smaller than I portrayed it, but come on, give me some hope.
