This is going to be a short, exciting week for me. I am on vacation starting Thursday. I am heading to North Carolina for a four day weekend to meet some guys and play Pinehurst. There are twelve of us going, although I really only know one of them. My buddy planned this trip over a month ago, but it is finally here. My only concern is that I have not played much golf lately and I don’t want to embarrass myself. I used to beat my buddy pretty regularly when I lived in Dallas. Now I am sure he plays a lot more than I do. It will be good to see him. I left Dallas some years ago and this is the first time I will see any of my friends from Dallas since I left.
Hopefully I will get more word on the job front this week as well. The boss lady was on vacation at the end of last week but I am pretty sure she comes back this week. I have now had two phone interviews and three in person interviews. I have two people left to talk with, although one is HR so I am not sure that counts as an interview. It is more likely just a chance for me to understand their benefits package.
Many of you have asked where exactly it is that I would be working. I have been reluctant to say as I think the location could well give away the company, especially for anyone who lives in that area. I will say that the company is located in northern Virginia. My biggest problem is that I don’t understand the traffic patterns there so I can not decide how far away and in what direction I can live. I also need to be somewhere near the city or at least in a thriving neighborhood. I like to be able to walk from my place and have a choice of places to eat and drink. Someplace where I won’t get bored quickly. Although I would love to live in say, Georgetown, I have a feeling that is not feasible. One of my oldest friends lives in Baltimore, but that is about a 60 miles commute, one way, and I don’t think it will be an easy 60 miles, if there is such a thing. I have spent some time looking on the web at lofts and condos for sale in the BAWAVA area, and I have noticed that the prices seem to vary drastically. I am sure that has a lot to do with location.
I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. I still need to get past the last few interviews and then they need to make me the right offer. Until that happens, I will need to continue to work the job I have now. That means I need to go to work. Lots to do this week and only three days to finish.
