Need Some Help

I need to switch banks as the one I have used for about 15 years does not have any branches in Virginia. I have tried to look some up in Virginia, but I am not sure which one to choose. Do any of you have any strong opinions as to which bank I should use. Here are some I have been considering:

1. Wachovia
2. Washington Mutual
3. Chevy Chase Bank

I don't need anything fancy, but I would like to at least be able to pay bills online (for free). What do you think? Anyone have an opinion?

Chevy Chase has lots and lots of ATMs to make up for fewer branches. Wachovia is a giant soulless machine. I don't know Washington Mutual. Provident is a Baltimore bank that has spread throughout DC and northern Virginia -- they have good consumer products, although they're not a great lender.

Lots of people didn't like WaMu. BofA is headquarter in NC. Citi bank has free online paybill. First Republic is in New York but all ATM's fee is wavied. And they're good with customer service
