Could this be the one?

OK not a woman I met, although I did meet some pretty cool chicks this weekend. I am thinking about the new job opportunity that I am currently involved with. I got a call from a big well known software company about a position last week. I usually don’t put much stock in many of the calls I get as most of them lead to little or nothing. I average one or two calls and a few emails a week. I guess my resume looks good and the recruiters tend to think I can do anything. One problem with recruiters, they are basically looking for key words and tend not to pay attention to actual details, such as what I did for a company. One of the problems with my particular profession is that the title can mean many different things. I am a bit specialized and that has hampered me with job hunting in the past.

But I digress. I got a call from a recruiter, OK she was a recruiter within the company, usually better than an outside agency. She asked me a couple of questions, asked me to fill out a form and sent me a job description. First off, anyone who gets a call from a recruiter or a company and doesn’t at least hear them out is an idiot. How do you know that this offer wont be miles ahead of what you do today. Always explore opportunities and don’t fear change. Well she told me right away that my salary might be an issue. It usually is. But she promised that she would do what she could for me. Nice.

Well, I got an email on Monday asking for a phone interview with one person in the company. I sent him some times I would be available and we agreed on 3 PM my time. This was nice as it was actually 6 PM his time (hint as to where I am going with this). The phone interview went well. We spoke for an hour. He asked me a few technical questions, which he phrased badly. He obviously knows very little about wireless technology. He informed me that he would pass my name along and a few others would want to talk with me. Cool.

I got this email this morning, very early my time.
Hi Blue944,

I am the account director working for the Boss Lady. Could we speak on the phone some time later this week? Please ping me and we can set up a time.

Best regards,

Cool they seem to be moving fast. The first guy did tell me that this req was open for awhile and they wanted to fill it quickly. I then got this email a half hour later.
Blue944,

I just heard that you will be coming to our office for a meeting and so I will look forward to meeting with you in person.

The Guy Who Wants To Interview Me Next

I am??? I didn’t know that. I guess he is in the know and I am lagging. So I am moving from phone interview to in person, talk to many, interview. Now here is the exciting part…the position is on THE EAST COAST BABY. After five years of trying to find someone in the east who would hire me and not require me to wear a paper hat to work, I finally got someone to bite. Yes, I am excited. Hell yes, I will move. Look out East Coast.

I got an email later in the day from an admin asking me for times I could meet with the group. I gave her four days next week…you pick it baby and I will be there.

So tonight I was at my loft drinking some wine and playing some pool, and thought I would share my excitement with all of you who venture to my site. I am not sure when the interview will be, but I need to nail it. I need them to believe I am perfect for this position cause this may be my best chance to get eastbound without having to just pack the car and go. I may need a new suit.

And to all of my blogger buds, who I have met in person, and raised a glass or two, this position is in your neck of the woods…

Congratulations to you! And good luck. It's always good to check out any possibility and this sounds near perfect for what (or at least WHERE) you wanted!
