I thought about it today and I am certain, I am not posting as much as I used to. I think it has to do with my new schedule. Whenever I change jobs, it takes a while to settle into a routine. I have been there four days now and I am not quite used to the hours yet. I was used to coming to work at 8 in the morning and heading home at by 5 in the evening no matter what. I showed up at my new job this morning at 8:15 and I was the only one there in my group until at least 9. I think that 8 to 5 is more of a guideline at this company. It makes sense as sales people tend to work on their own schedule.
It also hasn’t helped that I did not have a PC at work until today. Yeah that is right, three days no access to a PC. I was used to being able to access the web and this blogger world whenever I wanted. But for the last three days I have had no access until I got home. These guys are a little slow, but I think the job is pretty good. So far everything is going well. Oh yeah, I also made my first sale today. Considering I am supporting 14 sales reps most of which have not worked in this industry for more than 3 months, any sale is pretty good. My boss told me four days for the first sale might be a record. There is something to be said for being seriously over qualified for a job.
I am still looking for a new car. My buddy is looking at an XK8 in Texas for me tomorrow. He is going to send me some photos. There is another one in L.A. They are both the same year and color. I already got them to reduce the price to under the blue book value of both. The Texas dealer is even willing to ship the car to me for free. Might have to consider that as my alternative is to fly to LA and drive the other one home. My brother has been trying to talk me into getting a BMW instead. I like the convertibles, but in California, you can’t throw a rock without hitting a BMW. Especially in Walnut Creek.
Speaking of Walnut Creek, my brother also thinks I need to move there instead of the city. He says it is cleaner and full of rich, gorgeous women. He works in downtown WC. That’s where we went shopping this week. He works at the mall. He is right, the sights down there are definitely nicer that here in the ghetto. Not like that is saying much though. There is a new building opening up next month with some one bedroom places right in the middle of that area. It won’t be NYC, but it would be pretty nice and it is only minutes from my office. I am going to their open house preview this weekend to check them out. Problem is that they are expensive. Even more expensive than other places in Northern Cal. They run about $1.70 a foot. That adds up unless you are living in a closet. I want to look at them anyway.
So I could have a busy weekend. Picking up a new car, maybe. Looking at new place. Not to mention about 100 other things I need to do. And somewhere in there, I need to squeeze in a little drinking. Got to have your priorities, you know.
