Well, I did it. I bought the Jaguar this weekend. I flew down to Southern California, bought it and drove it back on Saturday. It is a 1997 Jaguar XK8. This is the first year that the Jag made this model. It is very clean, not even a door ding on the entire car. It is also in the color I was looking for, British Racing Green. I am very happy with it.
If you want to get to know a new car, drive it 400 miles on the first day you have it. I found out a few things about the car that need some work. No worries, it is all minor things.
Photos to follow.
I also looked at the new apartments in Walnut Creek this weekend. Nice places, but pricey. I am not sure where I want to live yet, so I will probably pass on these as I would need to apply now to have a good chance of getting one of these at all. Most of the one bedroom places already have applications pending. Oh well, I will find a place eventually anyway.
Nothing much more going on. I did play in my monthly poker game at Bertolas on Saturday night. Are you getting the feeling that Saturday was a long day for me? Up at 5:30 AM to catch a flight and home from a poker game at 4:00 AM. I lost $5.00 (not the big loser, but a lot of money in this game), had plenty of food and drinks though so well worth it. My old boss is Irish and we were telling Irish jokes at the game. Here are the best…
Did you here about the Irishman who gave up drinking?
It could happen.
This Irish bar is burning and when the fire department gets there, they go in and bring out two Irishmen from the bar. They ask the Irishmen how the fire started and they replied – We are not sure, it was burning when we went in.
This next one is better when you can hear it, the accent is crucial.
Drinking. That is the whole reason why the Irish never conquered anything. Here is a conversation involving the Irish invading England.
OK, now that you’ve all been briefed on our plans to invade England. Are there any questions. Yeah, you Paddy, in the back.
When we get there, will they have beer for us or will we have to bring our own? Oh they won’t, well then you won’t be finding the likes of me there I can tell you.
