From my ski trip this weekend.
- I am SO over my twenties. I spent the weekend in a four bedroom condo with some twenty-somethings and I can tell you that I am so past all the issues that twenty-somethings have. I must admit that these were very put together and successful twenty-somethings and I was still blown away by the issues they think they have.
- I am very hopeful for the future as we had two 18 year old boys with us for the weekend and not once did they try to drink any alcohol. If this is typical behavior for kids today, then we might be better off in the future. I am convinced that the people running the world today were more like me in high school and killed too many brain cells to make proper decisions. Maybe the future is not as bleak as it seems.
- As someone who has been through both, I would like to give this little pearl of wisdom. The dating pool may be deeper in your twenties, but I guarantee the water is much nicer in your thirties. Hang in there, life is long.
- The Rose is very easy to travel with. She packs fewer clothes than I do and is pretty low maintenance on trips. She has taken to calling me Metro and those of you that know me would agree with her. I had a great time this weekend and most of that had to do with her. Some of it had to do with all the wine we drank.
- Speaking of wine, I have a new rule. If your tasting menu has more wines on it made from miscellaneous fruit than it does wines made from grapes, then you don’t get to call yourself a winery. Anything made purely from raspberries, blackberries and blueberries is not a wine, it is spiked syrup.
- We also need to redefine when you are allowed to call yourself a ski resort. I would think that a “mountain” would be required in order for you to call yourself a ski resort. This was not a mountain. This was barely a hill. And although I will admit that the weather last week did not help, they did not have any snow either. Snow is sort of a loose term…I meant ice and little white pellets that look similar to snow. There was so little snow in the area we went, that they have an 18 hole golf course next to it and it did not have one snowflake on it. I could have played golf on Saturday – it was definitely warm enough.
- The Rose and I agreed on the way home, with some help from MS, that we are not dating anyone else and we don't want to date anyone else...We are almost boyfriend and girlfriend...man that is commitment huh? Things between us are good.
All in all I had a good trip. I hadn’t skied in many years and I accomplished my goal…I didn’t break anything.
