I am actually standing by someone on the Metro who is listening to a discman. A discman. I would have thought all of those would have been trashed years ago. How long has the iPod been around? Next I will see someone using a Commodore 64 or driving gas combustion vehicles - oh wait. I mean really, get with the times. You can buy a cheap MP3 player for about $30 today.
I am often amazed at the outdated technology that is still used in this country. And the scary part is that we are the most advanced country on the planet. I remember even during my time in the Navy, our technology was 10 years behind the private sector. And don't kid yourself, the military is still a generation behind.
What out dated stuff are you still using?

Sometimes... and I know it's scary... but sometimes I'll turn off the TV and the computer and the music... and I'll use my brain to read a book or think some interesting thinks. It's the same one that came with my body... I haven't upgraded it. Oh sure, it's a bit slow sometimes and these days it needs more caffeine to boot up... but I'm kinda attached to it.
Blue... just stoppin' in to say hi! I'm impressed that you still regularly blog as many of the other peeps have dropped off the blogosphere. Every-so-often I get the itch to blog and then I've gotta check everyone out! Hope things are great. I was in DC a couple months ago and I learned all about the "escalefters"... sad that isn't something we in Podunk, USA were even familiar with!
Just about all of the technology I use is outdated!
I am still using a discman...the kids roll around laughing when I call it a walkman. I haven't jumped on the mp3 player band wagon yet.
There's a guy on my bus that also listens to a discman. Everyone else has an MP3 player of sorts (my greater peeve are those that listen to it so loudly that I can still hear if five rows up). Anyway, I have a regular TV right now so I'm kind of dated in that respect. I just don't want to upgrade yet, though I told my boyfriend if we get engaged then that could be his "ring." My cell phone is also fairly basic in that I don't have e-mail capability, nor did I subscribe to the web browser.
Was it possible that person you saw on the Metro was using the Discman because he/she couldn't afford a $30 MP3 player? Believe it or not, even here in the might U.S of A, there are people whose financial lives don't allow for $30 luxuries.
