Valentine's Day?

I did not even realize it was Valentine's Day until I got on the metro and saw a man carrying roses. Then it hit me what day it was. This day has not been that important to me for the last few years. I have had no reason to buy flowers or candy. Well I buy candy, but only because I like it.

I have to admit that I do not really believe in the structured romantic gesture. Romance seems like something that you should do because you want to, not because a the greeting card companies tell you to. I mean, how romantic can it be if you are told to do it. I guess the holiday does serve a purpose...it reminds us that we should show the people that matter we love them. But we should do that every day.

For you guys out there, I hope you already got your sweetie something nice. For all you gals out there, I hope you plan on rewarding those guys. For those of us that are just bitter and alone, there is always alcohol to ease the pain. Drink up!
