The Good, the Bad and The Ugly

No I am not talking about the best spaghetti western movie ever. I am talking about my vacation. Let me break it down for you…you figure out which category it goes in.

The women…I think Nick put it best when we were in the airport waiting for our connecting flight. He said “Is it me or are European women hotter than American women and does it seem like there are many more hot women here.” All I can say to both is, YES. I can definitely see my self falling in love in Spain.

Bottles of wine that cost €1.5 and still taste great. There are lots of them in Spain and Portugal.

Smoking Cuban cigars and drinking port wine at midnight in the Institute.

Roads that are barely wide enough for one car, let alone a car and pedestrians. They must have a lot of accidents in these little towns.

Spending four days trying to change Nick’s flight home. I will never again use a discount ticket company.

Having bread and olives and ham brought to your table like they are part of the meal, but you are always charged extra for them. No, they don’t ask if you want them, you just have to refuse them.

Drinking coffee at 2:00 AM in the square and there are still hundreds of people walking around.

Sleepy beach towns at the end of the world.

The shockingly rare use of street signs. Does everyone in Europe always know what street they are on.

The amazing food, whether you are eating in a dive bar or a nice restaurant, it is all very good.

The old fisherman who seem to do nothing all day but sit on a bench and wait to die. They seem very content.

The British pub in the middle of a small Spanish town.

Spending time with Nick…even the arguments were fun. He thinks that Bob Dylan and Neil Young are the best musicians ever...and no good music is made today. Is he really my kid?

Meeting fellow Americans and sharing our vacation experience.

The lack of street signs when you get to a fork in the road. Why put the sign a ½ mile after the fork when I needed it at the fork.

Drinking three bottles of wine while learning a new card game (Oh Hell).

Driving an hour north, when you meant to go south.

Eating dinner while people are singing Fado music. Fado music in general.

Being lost all the time, in every city…driving is a bad idea.

Overall Great Trip...Some pictures will follow.

Sounds like a blast. I'm sure the men are hotter there too:) I wonder if part of it's b/c we take ourselves too seriously and work all the time?

Sounds like way more good than bad and ugly. I can't wait to see the pictures and hear more stories. Welcome back.
