Super Weekend

I love sports, but I have always preferred to play rather than watch, so I don’t spend all day watching ESPN. I don’t worry whether I missed the USC basketball game Thursday as I don’t care about most sporting events on TV, well, with a few exceptions. I never miss the Masters, or the NCAA tournament (especially opening weekend and the Final Four), or a game seven of the World Series and I definitely never miss the Super Bowl. Super Bowl weekend is upon us. However, this Super Bowl will be a little different for me in that I will actually be in one of the Super Bowl cities. No not Detroit, but Seattle. I have never been in the same town as a Super Bowl team. It seemed that every year that my 49ers won the big game, I was in the military or lived somewhere else. I am looking forward to the atmosphere and the excitement in Seattle. I imagine it will be similar to the time the Mets and Yankees were in the World Series and I was watching the game in Manhattan. Although, that situation was a little scary because both fans were in the same bar.

I have been planning a trip to go up and see my son, Nick, and it happens that we finally got it scheduled for this weekend. I am actually going up there on Sunday morning so my first order of business will be to watch the game. We will probably pick someplace downtown where we can watch with all the other excited Seattle fans. Now don’t get me wrong. I am not a Seattle fan. As a matter of fact I could probably care less who wins the game. I have no strong feeling either way. As usual, with the Super Bowl, I am just hoping for a good game. I wish all the Steeler and Seahawk fans the best of luck.

I will be in Seattle until the middle of next week. I am staying downtown at the Camlin, thanks to my sister and her timeshare. Nick and I will be doing all the Seattle things, visiting Pike Place Market, the Experience Music Project and of course drinking coffee. We are also planning a trip out to some of the nearby islands. So if you don’t hear from me for a few days, assume it is because I am having too much fun and I will give you a recap upon my return.

Enjoy Super Bowl weekend. I hope that you all are going to a party, or a bar or somewhere to enjoy the game with fellow fans or friends. I am quite sure that I will have fun, especially since my 21 day detox ends tomorrow. Yeah Baby…
