The 'Thanks Dad' Song
I am just testing to see if it is possible to put music on my site...let me know if you have problems. I added a music player in the left column as well.
OK, Detox in a Box update. First off I feel good. I felt like crap the first three days or so, but that was basically my body wondering where all of the sugar, caffeine and alcohol I usually take in went. I had a low grade headache for a few days, but that has subsided. The program, which I though would be very difficult to follow, turns out to just be difficult to follow. I was out of town this week for two days as well and that made it especially hard. I have done a pretty good job following it so far.
For those of you interested, here is what my diet consists of:
• Upon waking – 1000 mg of buffered ascorbic acid in water (vitamin C) – this makes alka seltzer taste good – it’s nastyNow doesn’t that sound just so tasty? There are a lot of foods you can eat and those that you can’t. It is a little weird, but some of the foods you would think would be good they tell you not to eat, like citrus fruits (with the exception of lemons that you can use in almost anything). But then other things like avocados and almonds are recommended. You can sauté food in a little olive oil or steam it.
• 20 minutes later – 2 Tbsp of Bentonite Clay chased with some water – also nasty
• Before breakfast – Take probiotics, liver detox pill and magnesium citrate
• Breakfast – rice protein shake made with berries, protein powder, borage and flax oil, flax seed and water (this is actually pretty good) – you can drink four of these a day if you want – I usually have one maybe two on the weekends
• Morning Snack – cup of vegetable broth or juice – I refuse to make homemade veggie broth so I choose the Odwalla Superfood
• Lunch – steamed veggies and brown rice and a protein shake if needed (I generally go for a salad as I am not home to make this stuff during the day)
• Afternoon snack – veggie juice (I don’t have one)
• Before Dinner - Take probiotics and liver detox pill
• Dinner – steamed or sautéed veggies, brown rice and steamed fish (I have actually had sashimi twice so that is cool)
• Bedtime - 2 Tbsp of Bentonite Clay and magnesium citrate
On top of the diet they recommend yoga, meditation, walking and journaling. At least I do the journaling part. I have gone 7 days and I feel good. I am trying for 14 more days. Who knows, maybe I will make it.
