I guess I should write something concerning the DMB concert this week. It was FANTASTIC. It was well worth the hour plus drive to see him in 95° weather. Actually the weather was great once the sun went down. We camped out on the lawn and the sound was terrific. We didn’t leave with that “I can’t hear cause the music was so loud” feeling. It was more like listening to music in your living room, really loud. We were miles away from the stage so you could just make out the outline of the performers, but the big screen TVs helped with that. I would highly recommend seeing DMB if you have not done so yet.
I would also like to say this – selling your house sucks. I own a home in Dallas and have been renting it out to friends for a few years now. Well they need to move, to Arizona actually, so we decided (my ex and I) to sell it instead of trying to rent it again. I don’t like the idea of renting to strangers when I live so far away. This is the first home I ever bought and now it’s the first home I’ve ever tried to sell. Both suck.
If I was in Dallas, I would have sold the house myself, but since I’m thousands of miles away, I had to get a real estate broker. My ex suggested a friend of a friend. I think we could have done better. We got a bid on the house last weekend after about 3 weeks on the market. The bid was $12K less than our asking price. Now that is not a lot of money if you are selling your house for a million dollars, but I’m not selling my house for a million dollars so this is a lot of money. We thought about it and figured that if I have to spend money to do internal repairs, painting, cleaning etc., and have to pay the mortgage in an empty house for a few months, it would end up eating into our profits anyway. So we countered, they countered, we countered and they accepted. All under the impression that we would sell the house as is. I signed a contract and have sent information to the title company. All was moving along for a September 1 closing.
Then I get this today from my real estate agent:
“Blue944, the buying agent will send amendment for repair today or tomorrow. I will forward to you and we can decide what we want to do. Thanks The Dumb Ass Real Estate Agent That Is Taking Most Of My Profits.”
What the hell does that mean? What part of “as is” means I have to pay for repairs? Why exactly am I giving the real estate duo 6% of my house sale? The problem is that I’m not sure I’m in a position to argue too much concerning the house. I need to sell it or I will be paying for the spiders to live there. Not to mention paying the gardener to cut grass that I will never see. This really sucks, and I am getting to the point that I don’t care if we make a dime, I just don’t want to deal with it any more.
If you are going to buy a house, do it in California. The homes appreciate about $100K in six months so they are worth the investment. So what if you mortgage payment is so high you have to eat top ramen noodles for dinner daily. At least when you sell the house, you will see some profits.
Just another frustrating week…13 days until I move into my own place. Have a great weekend all.

Fucking real estate agents are such bunch of nimrods. It's rare to find one that's actually honest.
